Program Participant Spotlight

A woman with long brown hair and a baby wearing a pink top sit outdoors. The baby has a small bow in her hair. The background is blurred with trees and a building visible.

Michelle lay in a stranger’s tent, sick and weak after a relapse in her struggle with substance use. Homeless and pregnant, she thought, “If I’m feeling sick, my baby’s not doing well. I can’t do this anymore.” Despite the pain, she mustered the strength to get up, walked to a gas station, and found help to reach a treatment center. After being referred to Harbor Care’s Cynthia Day Family Center, Michelle began her recovery journey.

“I’m actually living and not just surviving. I feel free.”
