Harbor Care is a Nashua, New Hampshire-based nonprofit that aims to break the cycle of homelessness through housing, healthcare, and veteran services. Programs range from permanent supportive housing to primary, dental, and mental health care, substance use treatment, and services specifically for veterans and people living with HIV/AIDS.
Harbor Care serves individuals and families across the community, including people experiencing chronic homelessness, people with disabilities, veterans and their families, and individuals in need of substance use treatment. Healthcare services are open to everyone in the community regardless of insurance or income, and no one is denied care based on race, color, sex, age, national origin, disability, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, or inability to pay.
No. Harbor Care accepts most insurance, including Medicaid and Medicare, but you do not need insurance to receive care. A sliding-fee scale based on income and family size is available for people who are uninsured or unable to pay.
Harbor Care serves everyone regardless of ability to pay. Discounts for essential services are offered based on family size and income through a sliding-fee scale, and much of the organization’s work is supported by donors and funders so that cost is never a barrier to care.

Harbor Care’s main Health & Wellness Center is at 45 High Street, Nashua, NH, with administrative offices at 77 Northeastern Blvd, Nashua, NH. Additional healthcare services are also offered at 615 Amherst Street, Nashua, NH, and through telehealth, with a mobile health access unit serving Nashua, Milford, Merrimack, and Hudson. Permanent and transitional housing and veteran services are offered throughout New Hampshire.
Yes. Through interpreters and multilingual staff, services are available in most languages, including English, Spanish, and Portuguese, and Harbor Care’s HIV/AIDS services uses LanguageLine for additional language support.
Yes. Harbor Care follows a formal Notice of Privacy Practices, and patients can request and review this document before their first appointment. The organization also has Federal Public Health Service-deemed status related to certain health and malpractice claims.
Yes. Harbor Care uses a “No Wrong Door” model, meaning staff coordinate across programs, so a person seeking healthcare can also be connected to housing, insurance support, or other resources when needed, since stable housing, food, and transportation are often just as important to long-term healthcare.
