MANCHESTER, NH — Harbor Care has received $30,000 from Bank of America to support its mission to end veteran homelessness in Manchester and across NH. The gift will help expand access to stable housing, healthcare, and essential services for New Hampshire veterans experiencing or at risk of homelessness, offering them a path toward long-term stability and independence.

Harbor Care has been at the forefront of statewide efforts to end veteran homelessness, working closely with Manchester Mayor Jay Ruais on a bold initiative to effectively end veteran homelessness in the city by the end of the mayor’s term in January 2026. Since the initiative launched last fall, 44 veterans have already been placed into permanent housing—surpassing expectations and demonstrating the power of collaboration between nonprofits, government, and the private sector.

“Harbor Care is honored to lead this effort alongside Mayor Ruais and our partners, ensuring that no veteran is left without a home,” said Henry Och, President & CEO of Harbor Care. “With Bank of America’s generous support, we can continue breaking down barriers to housing and stability for those who have served our country.”

“At Bank of America, we believe every veteran deserves the chance to live with dignity and stability,” said Matt Reilly, President, Bank of America New Hampshire. “We are honored to support Harbor Care’s work providing housing, healthcare, and essential services to veterans in need.”

Bank of America’s investment underscores its commitment to strengthening local communities and improving the lives of those who have served. Together, Harbor Care, the City of Manchester, and partners like Bank of America are creating a pathway toward effectively ending veteran homelessness—a future where veteran homelessness is rare, brief, and nonrecurring.

In 2017, the City of Nashua effectively ended veteran homelessness, with Harbor Care playing a critical role in that achievement alongside local organizations.

Through its Veteran Services, Harbor Care provides statewide outreach to veterans facing or at risk of homelessness, connecting them with emergency relief, permanent or transitional housing, employment assistance, and wraparound services, such as medical care and substance use treatment. Each year, Harbor Care serves more than 450 veterans and their families, with a proven track record of helping veterans secure housing, jobs, and self-sufficiency.
