Harbor Care President & CEO Henry Och recently joined New Hampshire House Representative Michael Moffett and Commandant Kimberly MacKay of the New Hampshire Veterans Home for a special WFEA 1370 AM radio discussion focused on the challenges veterans face when transitioning from military service to civilian life.

Hosted by Jeff Chidester during Military Appreciation Month, the conversation explored the many changes service members experience as they leave active duty and the importance of ensuring they have access to the support and resources needed to succeed.

Och emphasized that a veteran’s transition involves much more than finding a new job. “For a service member leaving active duty, it’s not just one transition,” he said. “They’re transitioning their housing, their job, their purpose, their identity, and their community. That’s why we need to be very deliberate in making sure all of those dimensions are addressed.”

Drawing on his healthcare background, Och compared military transition to transitions of care within healthcare systems, where careful planning and coordination are essential to prevent problems and improve outcomes.

The discussion highlighted the collective efforts of community organizations, government leaders, and veteran-serving agencies working to help New Hampshire veterans successfully navigate life after military service.

More than 85,000 veterans call New Hampshire home. As communities across the state continue to recognize the contributions of those who have served, conversations like this help raise awareness of the challenges veterans may face and the importance of providing meaningful support throughout their transition journey.

Harbor Care thanks Jeff Chidester and WFEA 1370 AM for bringing attention to this important topic and for helping connect the community with resources that support veterans and their families. Check-out WFEA Radio.
