The Bank of America Foundation Gives Grant to Harbor Care to Help Homeless Community Members
Harbor Care, a non-profit organization in Nashua, NH, received a generous grant from the Bank of America Foundation to help end homelessness in Greater Nashua and NH. Funds will be used to ensure that housing, health care, and other services needed by more than 5,000 vulnerable NH community members continue, especially in the wake of Covid-19, supporting the entire continuum of Harbor Care’s housing services—from street outreach and temporary housing to case management and permanent homes. Harbor Homes works with all individuals and families experiencing homelessness, but especially veterans and others community members at the greatest risk of chronic homelessness, such as those living with behavioral health disorders and HIV/ AIDS.
Funding is especially important during the COVID-19 pandemic. Peter Kelleher, President & CEO of Harbor Care, says “Harbor Care is rapidly responding to the coronavirus pandemic across its own services, and is conferring with government departments to help craft local and state responses. Our clients, who are among the most vulnerable in NH for many reasons, are expected to face great burdens for years to come as a result of both the health and economic impact of this. In the short term, we anticipate that more community members experiencing loss of employment will eventually also experience housing instability. Many clients previously paid what they could towards rent, but now out of work, they can pay nothing. Harbor Care greatly appreciates Bank of America Foundation for once again partnering with us and helping our clients achieve long-term success.”

Harbor Care (formerly known as Harbor Homes and the Partnership for Successful Living) is a private, non-profit organization. Our continuum of services works to end or prevent homelessness. The largest supplier of supportive housing in NH, and, in its primary service area (Greater Nashua), Harbor Care effectively ended homelessness among veterans and people living with HIV/AIDs. Harbor Care also runs NH’s only stand-alone federally qualified health center for the homeless, with primary care, dental care, pharmacy services, and behavioral health care offered to all those in need.
