Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Foundation Gives $233,000 to Harbor Care

Grant Ensures Equitable Health Care for Nashua’s Most Vulnerable Community Members

Harbor Care, formerly known as Harbor Homes and the Partnership for Successful Living, received a $233,000 grant from the Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Foundation, in support of equity and equality in accessing health care among vulnerable populations.

Harbor Care operates New Hampshire’s only stand-alone Federally Qualified Community Health Center for the Homeless, with more than 3,400 local community members accessing high-quality primary care, mental health and substance use disorder treatment, pharmacy services, and oral health care through three sites in Nashua, including a mobile van.

Harvard Pilgrim is committed to equal access to quality health care for all, especially those in underserved urban and rural areas. This grant will help Harbor Care deliver vital community resources during this pandemic and beyond, responding to the physical and mental health needs of their patients. We are proud to support Harbor Care’s mission of caring for those in need in Greater Nashua.  — William Brewster, M.D., Vice President of NH Market for Harvard Pilgrim Health Care.

Harbor Care services are offered to both insured and uninsured patients of all ages, using a sliding fee scale based on income. No one is turned away based on inability to pay for care.

Thanks to the support of Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Foundation, Harbor Care is able to remain on the front lines of the Greater Nashua community’s coronavirus response, offering COVID-19 testing – and soon, rapid testing with results available in just 15 minutes - while maintaining all of its much-needed health care services through both in-person care and telehealth. We so incredibly grateful for this grant, as we work to ensure all individuals – not just those who can afford it – continue to receive quality health care, despite the added challenges of the pandemic. — Peter Kelleher, President and CEO of Harbor Care.
