Thank You, Swim With A Mission
Harbor Care is grateful to Swim With A Mission (SWAM) for providing $260,000 to our Veteran First housing, Boulder Point, in support of COVID-19 relief.
Harbor Care used these funds to build a much-needed four-season annex at Boulder Point and, combined with a matching grant from The Jack & Dorothy Bryne Foundation, purchase a generator for the main building.
Located in Plymouth, NH, the Boulder Point main building has a number of small meeting rooms. In a pre-COVID-19 world, these were sufficient for financial planning, counseling, and other needs of the community.
During the current pandemic, however, these common rooms in the main building were incapable of providing enough space for social distancing during service delivery. Moreover, medical staff from the White River Junction VA Medical Center need room to provide COVID-19 related medical services to veterans at Boulder Point. The new annex answers all these needs with 800 square feet of enclosed, four-season space just steps from the door of the main building.
The new annex provides ample programming space for ongoing COVID-19 relief activities. It also will be used as programming space for residents of Boulder Point to participate in year-round activities such as one-on-one counseling, group counseling, and other activities provided by the VA, Harbor Care, and other community partners — all while following proper physical distancing protocols. The space is flexible, and will provide Boulder Point residents many options for service delivery in the decades to come.
SWAM representatives celebrated the building's completion with Harbor Care’s CEO and President, Peter Kelleher, and its Board of Directors Vice Chairman, Rick Plante, on December 14th. On January 6, VA Medical Center staff from White River Junction used the facility to give Boulder Point veterans their first vaccinations for COVID-19.
Swim With A Mission supports organizations that service, support and honor our Veterans.
