Dr. Lauren Meehan, Director of Clinical Training
Dr. Lauren Meehan earned her B.A. in Psychology with High Honors from Amherst College, and earned her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Wright Institute in Berkeley, California. She is a New Hampshire Licensed Psychologist and Clinical Supervisor at Harbor Care Health and Wellness Center, and she serves as the Chief Psychologist in Harbor Care’s Psychology Internship Program.
Dr. Meehan provides psychotherapy, primarily for adults seeking help with a wide range of issues. She strives to develop an empathic, collaborative relationship with her clients that helps them to explore their thoughts and feelings, develop self-awareness, and begin to make meaningful changes in their lives. She integrates psychodynamic, humanistic, cognitive-behavioral, and dialectical behavioral modalities in her clinical work, and she draws from her experience working in community mental health, hospitals, schools, and private practice settings, with clients from diverse backgrounds.
As a Clinical Supervisor, Dr. Meehan strives to provide interns with a broad knowledge base and opportunity to practice a variety of methods of working with patients, with the goal of helping each intern to develop their own unique clinical style.
Dr. Meehan was drawn to Harbor Care for its strong sense of community and commitment to social justice. She has found that Harbor Care is a unique community organization that evolves in response to clients’ needs. Dr. Meehan is a member of the New Hampshire and American Psychological Associations.
