Prevention Services for HIV
Everyone should get tested for HIV at least once, but those at risk—such as those who inject drugs, those with multiple sexual partners, or people whose partners have or are at high risk of contracting HIV—should consider routine testing, and even prophylactic treatments that can prevent contracting HIV.
Our staff work on the front-lines of the HIV epidemic, with people at-risk of HIV transmission and those recently diagnosed, to help people stay healthy. Please contact us or call (603) 821-7788 to learn more.
Know Your Status:
Learning one’s HIV status early is an important part of staying healthy long term with the disease. Our primary care patients can access:
Routine HIV testing.
Linkage to medical care and support for those who test positive.
Access to PrEP and PEP.
PrEP & PEP
Four out of ten new HIV transmissions are from people who do not know they are infected. You can protect yourself and others. PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis Treatment) greatly reduces your risk of getting HIV, before you engage in risky activities. PEP (Post-Exposure Prophylaxis) greatly reduces your risk of getting HIV if you’ve recently engaged in unsafe sex or other risky activities. Harbor Care staff can recommend if these solutions are right for you through in-person or telehealth services.
