CONCORD, NH – Harbor Care President & CEO Henry Och gratefully accepted a generous donation of 40 rooms of furniture from Developer Steve Duprey of Duprey Companies/Duprey Hospitality. The furniture, sourced from the recently closed Holiday Inn in Concord, will help support Harbor Care's mission to assist those in need.
Och said, “This generous donation from Steve Duprey and Duprey Companies is incredibly important to Harbor Care. Many of the individuals and families we serve arrive with little more than the belongings they can carry. This furniture will provide much-needed comfort and dignity to their new homes.”
The furniture will be a highly appreciated supplement to Harbor Care’s efforts to house those in need, including veterans experiencing homelessness and the patients at Harbor Care’s Cynthia Day Family Center, our residential substance use rehabilitation program for pregnant and parenting women and their children. Truckloads of mattresses, chairs, and lamps were immediately shipped to Cynthia Day Family Center last week.
The Holiday Inn closed December 15 for renovations. The facility will reopen next summer as a DoubleTree Hilton. Duprey said, “When we close a hotel and have to liquidate all of the furniture, we have a choice. We can either give it to a commercial liquidator, who might give us five cents on the dollar, or we can donate it, so this is a great opportunity to give Harbor Care furnishings they can use to help veterans [and others in need].”
This effort results from Harbor Care’s partnership with The NH Lodging and Restaurant Association, coordinated by David Tille, Harbor Care’s Director of Community Engagement and Government Affairs.
