Harbor Care Meets with Officials to Increase Healthcare Access

Henry Och, Harbor Care President and CEO, and Bill Belecz, COO, with our partners from the Bi-State Primary Care Association, met with U.S. Reps. Annie Kuster and Chris Pappas about providing greater access to health care through Community Health Centers like Harbor Care Health & Wellness Center.

Kuster said, “I’m proud to partner with you as we work to ensure every Granite Stater has access to the health care they need to thrive!” Kuster uses her voice in Congress to support the nation’s medical “safety-net providers,” who care for 30.5 million patients.

Community Health Centers rely on federal funding to improve access to healthcare for all New Hampshirites. The funding has remained flat since 2015 – despite a 24% increase in patients and a 25% increase in medical care inflation. Community Health Centers save the healthcare system $24 billion each year by providing accessible preventative and primary care.

The Harbor Care Health & Wellness Center – one of 11 centers in NH serving 107,000 patients – provides high quality, professional health care services for all ages and uses a sliding-fee scale to ensure treatment for patients of all income levels. The majority of Harbor Care’s patients live in poverty, and many experience homelessness. Services include primary and preventive care, dental care, behavioral health care, and substance use treatment. The Health Center also accepts Medicaid, Medicare, and most private insurance and operates an on-site pharmacy. Most services are available in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.
